Games of philology and reading encouragements
Philology remains a broad, somewhat vague term with strong value content, and with a peculiar and indirect relationship with the educational process. Essentially, it implies a positively defined (friendly) relationship of the reader with the book (as the quintessential expression of written printed culture) in its broader dimension and as a form (image, shape, texture, touch, smell) and as content (meaning, significance). It could coexist with the term bibliophilia. The term "philology" aims to define a wide field of creative actions (reading practices) connected to the broader framework of Education but with strong potential for application in extracurricular institutional environments, such as libraries, family, and peer groups. Consequently, reading practices and related skills are largely freed from ideological biases and evaluative normative schemes and are transformed into paths and trails leading to the creative and liberating development of young readers. Thus, through philological activities, readers encounter the charm of discovering knowledge, the taste of literary texts, creative writing, and most importantly, the lost sense of joy in play and creation.
