Two authentic handmade Molas patchworks from the Kuna – Colombia

For sale are 2 authentic handmade Mola fabrics, works of the traditional art of the Kuna from the Panama–Colombia region.

The Mola is a recognized form of traditional Kuna art, and similar works are included in significant American museum collections, including the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

These are particularly impressive, colorful works that are kept in very good condition, featuring characteristic geometric and organic patterns (toucan birds), made using the traditional reverse appliqué technique and hand stitching. The back side reveals the layers of fabric and the details of the handmade work.
