Vintage Chinese Red Lacquered Leather Box – Gilded Dragon & Phoenix

It is a traditional Chinese oval trinket / jewelry box.
Top lid features gilded artwork depicting a dragon and phoenix facing a flaming pearl, set against a crackled red lacquered ground. In Chinese culture, the pairing of the dragon and phoenix represents harmony, balance (Yin and Yang), and marital fortune.
It's made of lacquered leather wrapped around a wooden body with stitched edge trim and an antiqued oriental brass medallion clasp; lined with pages from a traditional Chinese daily almanac (Tong Sing) and classical Chinese calligraphy text.
Condition:vintage condition with characterful patina. Some surface lacquer chipping on lower rim edges reveals the underlying leather/backing. Brass clasp is intact and fully functional.
