Georges Snyders attempts to conduct a thorough examination of today's urban school based on Marxist analysis. Using the experience and positive points of Bourdieu, Passeron, Bourdieu, Estable and Illich, he nevertheless proceeds to a sharp critical view of some of their opinions, preferring the conciliatory path, the path which, by dissolving undeniable prejudices of urban society, opens up to a realistic view of the proletarian struggle in the school. This entire effort is characterized by its pedagogical instinct, by the deep knowledge of Marxism of its theorists to arrive at conciliatory solutions that avoid the sharp division of the people, especially in the school field. Thus, a progressive pedagogy, strengthened by the position of the proletariat, will be able to help, to the extent of its powers, the disadvantaged children so that the struggle for a fair and proper education is effectively strengthened.
