Physiology of the Human Volume II

Knowledge of physiology is essential for understanding almost all branches of clinical medicine, including surgery. Physiology has made remarkable progress in the last decade. Certain phenomena, such as neurotransmission in the brain, the role of channels in cardiac function, or even cellular signaling that follows the binding of hormones to specific receptors located in the cell membrane, are now described with satisfactory accuracy and clarity. This truly impressive progress has been decisively contributed to by the work of molecular biology, biochemistry, and of course cellular histology. Therefore, in order to understand modern physiology, one must also have some knowledge of the other aforementioned basic biomedical sciences. We considered it essential that a modern physiology book should describe contemporary achievements in physiology, as well as the basic mechanisms of human physiology in a form adapted for students of medical sciences, pharmacists, trainers, etc.
