The CD singles "Over The Hill" and "Babe" by Monika (Monika Christodoulou) were released by Archangel Music during the period 2008-2009, accompanying the huge success of her debut album, Avatar.
"Over The Hill" (2008) is the song that made Monika known to the general public, with the title track becoming an anthem of the Greek alternative scene. The b-sides "Alone2" (demo) and "We Could Break Up" (rough mix) serve as collectible documents, revealing the raw creative process of the artist. Critics praised the "disarming simplicity" and lo-fi aesthetic of "Alone2", while "We Could Break Up" was characterized as a more direct, guitar-driven indie/alternative piece.
The single "Babe" was released a year later, showcasing one of the most melodic tracks on the album. The title track has been mixed by Ian Caple in England. The second track, "Fraud", is a live recording from Monika's concert at Gagarin 205, where she performs it seated at her piano, with the passion and immediacy that live performance offers. The third track of the single is a new song with the curious title "11 30 80", a four-minute atmospheric ballad with English lyrics, featuring many string instruments under sound distortion.
