The Microsoft JVM was an old implementation of Java by Microsoft, embedded in versions of Internet Explorer 4.0 and Windows 98 in the late 1990s, but this version was not fully compatible with Sun's Java standard.
It is no longer supported, as Microsoft ceased its development after legal disputes with Sun Microsystems.
In 1997, Sun Microsystems sued Microsoft claiming that MSJVM violated the contract and the Java standard. Ultimately, in 2001, Microsoft agreed to gradually phase out the distribution and updating of MSJVM.
Support continued only until December 31, 2007, and since then it has not been officially distributed.
