Book Details:
"Luck at the Walls" is a woman's perspective on the modern world. The central heroine, Eftychia, brings to the forefront issues and concerns about parent-child relationships, time, goals, and luck. In her effort to reclaim what time has taken from her, she starts creative writing seminars. She converses with Fosse and Kafka, recalls memories, writes about nine bridges, changes, revises. The characters beside her and their parallel stories enhance the core of the narrative. Dead ends, separations, dilemmas, illnesses, expectations, loves, disappointments, wanderings in Thessaloniki, Naousa, Istanbul, New York. The portrait of a woman in a red dress, a photograph, a grandmother knitting, form links in the fiction, against a backdrop of uprooting stories. In the end, an acquaintance at the Film Festival will lead to unexpected meetings. The narrative is concise and succinct, with embedding, action, and twists.
