Geometry: A Comprehensive Course by Dan Pedoe

Book, Geometry: A Comprehensive Course by Dan Pedoe in excellent condition without notes inside the book

"A clear and masterful overview." — Mathematics Gazette
Professor Pedoe is widely known as an outstanding teacher and excellent geometer. His abilities in both areas are evident in this self-contained, well-written, and clear introduction to the scope and methods of elementary geometry. The book covers the geometry typically included in undergraduate mathematics courses, with the exception of the theory of convex sets. Based on a course the author taught for many years at the University of Minnesota, the main purpose of the book is to enhance geometric —and consequently mathematical— understanding and to help students enjoy geometry.
Among the topics examined are: the use of vectors and their products in the study of the theorems of Desargues and Pappus as well as the nine-point circle; circles and coaxial systems; the representation of circles with points in three dimensions; mappings of the Euclidean plane, similarities, isometries, mappings of the inversive plane, and Möbius transformations; projective geometry of the plane, space, and n dimensions; projective generation of conic and quadratic surfaces; Möbius tetrahedra; the tetrahedral complex; the twisted cubic curve; the cubic surface; oriented circles; and an introduction to algebraic geometry.
Additionally, three appendices deal with Euclidean definitions, axioms, and propositions; the Grassmann–Plücker coordinates of lines in S3; and the group of circular transformations. Among the prominent features of the book are the numerous solved examples and the more than 500 exercises that test geometric understanding.
