An excellent book for the introduction to the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. It is taught in computer engineering and computer science schools.

Computational intelligence is today considered a branch of so-called Soft Computing, which differs from conventional computing in that it has tolerance for imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximate knowledge. In its current form, computational intelligence includes Expert Systems, Fuzzy Logic and Fuzzy Systems, Artificial Neural Networks, and Evolutionary Computation with Genetic Algorithms, as well as combinations of these. The content of this book is organized in accordance with these specific scientific areas. The first chapter of the book relates to the early historical steps of artificial intelligence. The second chapter provides a brief reference to expert systems. Fuzzy logic and fuzzy systems are presented in the third chapter. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are presented in the fourth chapter.

In all chapters, there are solved and unsolved problems.
