INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHOR-PHILOLOGICAL PUBLISHER
Constantin von Tischendorf
Constantin von Tischendorf (1815-1874) was a German theologian of the Protestant church and paleographer. He traveled through France, England, Ireland, Italy, and Asia Minor and worked on the processing of his findings, particularly with the history of the manuscripts of the New Testament. In 1844, he discovered the oldest and most complete manuscript of the New Testament from the year 345, known as the Sinaitic Codex (Codex Sinaiticus). He deciphered the Palimpsest of Ephraim the Syrian and studied the translation of the Septuagint. Among other things, in 1853 he published the Apocryphal Gospels and in 1866 the Apocryphal Revelations.
