Antique Belgian Military "Souvenir de Guerre" C Mahillon Bugle & Infantry Signalman Portrait WW1
Inseparable historical Belgian military set from the WWI era "Souvenir de Guerre". Includes an original brass infantry bugle and the matching hand-colored portrait of the signalman. Authentic piece of Great War heritage.
The brass bugle was made in Brussels by C. Mahillon and carries the inscription C. Mahillon Fournisseur Breveté de l'Armée et des Conservatoires Bruxelles. Deep natural patina with heavy field use and battle scars, including dents in the tubing, a folded bell rim, and small structural cracks. The original mouthpiece detaches easily and is secured by its original brass chain. Carrying loops are intact, cord is missing.
The portrait is a hand-colored photograph in its original wooden frame with floral carvings. Depicts the instrument owner, infantry signalman in full uniform with a red lanyard. Bottom features the inscription Souvenir de Guerre. Reverse side bears the stamp of photo studio Maurice in Duffel, Belgium. The photo has a central crack and age spots. The frame has some edge damage at the top which is not visible when mounted. Uniform details remain sharp. For all details please see the photographs.
